Press Release Body = The Australian Government has held an inquiry into employment
in the tourism sector in late 2006. Restaurant & Catering Australia (RCA) made a
presentation to the inquiry after having made a submission about its specific part
of the industry.

The RCA submission dealt with the body\'s concerns about the skills shortage in the
hospitality industry, with the sector requiring around 65,000 new roles but
uncertainty over whether these could be filled with appropriately skilled staff.

Several potential solutions were discussed, including extending the number of hours
overseas students were allowed to work to 30 hours; the possibility of using the 457
visa to bring in migrant workers and promotion of the industry\'s career
opportunities.
